Five Towns CSD and Camden-Rockport Schools Ready to Welcome Families Back-to-School

As the sun rises later in the morning and sets earlier in the evening, it is our sign summer is coming to an end and the next school year is about to begin. Parents start prepping supplies and planning for the transition, kids check in with friends about their summer activities and teachers start filing back to classrooms to prepare for the exciting year ahead.

Superintendent, Maria Libby and the administrative staff met over the summer to review the strategic plan and ensure that the districts are on course to meet the goals and objectives they have put in place to provide our children with quality education and opportunities. In addition to their goals, there are three areas they are excited to watch develop during the year:

  • The High School will begin offering courses in The Hatchery. As you may have read in the annual report, The Hatchery is the innovation center the High School is launching this year to integrate the school and community through innovation.

  • The new middle school construction continues, and we launched the Take-A-Seat campaign at the end of June to begin raising funds for playground equipment, theater lighting, the athletic field, and a local art sculpture.

  • We hired a new Assistant Principal at the Camden Rockport Elementary School - longtime teacher Katie Bauer. She brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and talent to the position, and we thrilled to have her team up with Principal Chris Walker-Spencer. It could be a transformational moment for CRES.

There is a lot to look forward to and a lot to be grateful for in our small community and school system. That is why this years' district(s) sticker is "Practice Gratitude". Ms. Libby shared with staff, "You have probably all read about the research on gratitude and the difference expressing it can make in someone's happiness and sense of well-being. It is a game changer." Consistently practicing gratitude will be good for all of us.

Speaking of gratitude, we are thankful to have eleven new teaching staff, a few new ed techs and a new custodian in our schools. We also have a new Communications Director/Executive Assistant to the Superintendent, a new Assistant Principal at the Elementary School, and a new Athletic Director at the High School. Everyone is excited to be part of the dedicated staff in our amazing school districts!

The Five Town CSD and Camden-Rockport schools wish everyone a wonderful end to your summer, peaceful days ahead and we look forward to welcoming all our wonderful students back to the classroom September 3.
