Camden Hills Regional High School is like a well-stocked base camp which anchors our students' educational experience during their high school career. From there, they can venture forth on many paths of discovery, both inside and outside our walls. Students have an enviable array of educational choices and pathways, from traditional coursework to semesters abroad. We offer AP, dual enrollment, CTE, Independent Study, internships, and work-study. Approximately 50 students participate in intercultural travel whether as a service learning trip, cultural trip, or exchange. In the past 5 years we have taken students to Cuba, Italy, Finland, Spain, Scotland, Vietnam, and the Galapagos. A wide array of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities give students an opportunity to develop their skills, leadership, and interests. We have an incredibly strong visual and performing arts program that is as appealing as our athletics. Most importantly, our student body is often described as kind, eager to learn, and respectful. We have something special here!

I grew up in Camden and attended the Camden/Rockport schools from grades 5 to 12. I was quite active in sports during high school, playing field hockey, swimming, softball, baseball (Babe Ruth!), and tennis. I worked hard to graduate as valedictorian of Camden Rockport High School in 1982 and went on to study at Bowdoin College where I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in Economics and Environmental Studies. My career in education began when I started working at the Hurricane Island Outward Bound School during the summers in my early 20’s. Shortly after college I was a math and science teacher at a private boarding school in Colorado, followed by three years in a similar position at Proctor Academy in New Hampshire. After a several year detour as the Narragansett Bay Keeper and then as a stay-at-home mother, I was fortunate to return to education in MSAD 28 in 1997 as a math and science teacher at the Camden Rockport Middle School. I earned my Masters in Educational Leadership and became the Assistant Principal at CRMS in 2004. A couple years later, I became Principal, a position I loved and held for seven years until the duty to serve at a higher level called. In the fall of 2013, I became Assistant Superintendent for the Five Town CSD and MSAD 28, and then became Superintendent in July of 2015.

I have two grown sons who received great educations in our local public schools and continued their educations in Maine, at Colby and Bowdoin respectively. I appreciate the geography of our area, pursuing outdoor activities as often as I can. You are likely to spot me at the Camden Snow Bowl in the winter and on the Penobscot Bay in the summer. I am proud to serve as an education leader in a community where my roots and appreciation for its gifts run deep.
