The Conscious Kid
An education, research and policy organization dedicated to reducing bias and promoting positive identity development in youth working to promote access to children’s books centering underrepresented and oppressed groups. Has age-leveled recommendations for books.

Read or listen to How To Be An Antiracist written by Ibram X. Kendi or White Fragility by Robin DiAngelo or listen to some YouYube videos of them speaking. There are often book groups reading these titles and starting your own can be a great way to discuss these resources in greater depth.

A national coalition organizing for racial justice in education that encourages all educators, students, parents, unions, and community organizations to join our annual week of action during the first week of February each year. This organization and its annual curriculum resources have been endorsed by the National Education Association.

Connect with your school librarian: They have a wealth of resources on how to use books to increase representation in literature as well as for tools for how to talk about race, or racism in the classroom with books.
